Knut is a founding partner of PolyTechnos. He was a managing director of Freiberger Compound Materials, the world’s second largest producer of Gallium
Arsenide wafers. Knut was the director of the technology monitoring division at
Daimler Benz, where he was also responsible for corporate venture investments in
the Middle East, Asia, and the former U.S.S.R. He held a variety of posts at
Ernst Leitz, the world leader in precision optics, including managing director.
He ran R&D and Defense for the Swiss-German Wild-Leitz Group. Knut is a board
member of a number of venture capital groups and technology companies including
PolyTechnos' advised funds' portfolio companies DCT (chairman), ColorChip, IMI,
and Media Lario. At Varioptic, he holds an active observer seat. Knut is an
inventor of 44 U.S. and internationally registered patents and is a member of
the Jury of the German Innovation Prize and the Queen’s Prize of Higher &
Further Education in the U.K. He is also a member of the board of Futur, a Swiss
trust supporting Swiss start-up companies.
Knut received his degree in
electrical engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
